Retaining Walls

Retaining Walls can be used in many applications. In the mountainous terrain that we live in, retaining walls can add usable space, protect our structures, or even provide space for a structure or project that didn’t exist. A Garden Retaining Wall makes unusable space, usable.

Segmental Block Retaining Walls – Your garden retaining wall (or walls) will be built to comply with the specifications of the manufacturer and according to the standards of the NCMA (National Concrete Masonry Association). Correct depth, width, and compaction will be achieved for the footer. ABC stone which is approved by the Department of Transportation will be used as the aggregate base in the bottom of the footer. Geogrid reinforcement will be placed at the correct lifts, and will lay into the existing grade the correct depth. Washed, #57 stone will be used to fill the cells of the block and will also be used behind your garden retaining wall, for the entire length and height. This creates a buffer between the wall and the soil to allow for proper drainage and the reduction of hydrostatic pressure. Slotted pipe is inserted at the base of the drainage field behind the wall to carry any excess moisture to “daylight” or away from the wall. Mountain Advantage will have at least one NCMA certified segmental wall installer on site at all times.
